Parish Sacraments. Family Sacraments.

Holy Baptism and Holy Matrimony are two of the Church's seven Sacraments. The Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive that grace.

The Sacraments are the most holy of all the church's services and celebrations.

Holy Baptism at St. Alban's

Holy Baptism is the Sacrament by which God adopts us as his children and makes us members of Christ's Body, the Church, and inheritors of the Kingdom of God. St. Alban's has four regularly scheduled dates for Baptism: Easter Eve, Pentecost, All Saints' or the Sunday thereafter, and the First Sunday after Epiphany. Additional opportunities can be discussed with parish clergy.

Parents and Godparents of the baby or child to be baptized make the commitment to bring them up in the Christian faith. A Baptismal Seminar is usually held the day before the Baptism. Call the church office at least ten days in advance to make arrangements for Baptisms of adults or children.

You can explore the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the Book of Common Prayer, pages 298-308.

Holy Matrimony at St. Alban's

Holy Matrimony is Christian marriage, in which two enter into a life-long union, make their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows.

If you would like to inquire about celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at St. Alban's, the first step is to request a Guide to the Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage from the church office at (601) 636-6687. According to canon law, a couple must consult the clergy at least 30 days prior to the proposed wedding date (90 days if either party is divorced, when the bishop's approval is required). Premarital counseling is required of all couples seeking the Sacrament of Marriage.

Making plans much further in advance is strongly advised, in order to ensure scheduling flexibility.

You can explore the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in the Book of Common Prayer, pages 422-432.
